Muay Thai- Not just a Battlefield Art

Muay Thai is a very common practice in Thailand and involves many martial arts like boxing, hard kicking and strikes. The people who practice Muay Thai are fit and strong; mainly because of the exercise regime they follow daily and strict behavior of their trainers. Muay Thai training in Thailand is thought of being originated somewhere around 15th century. It is related to Buddhist relics as well.

The ring used for Muay Thai ring has the same size as that of a Western boxing ring. However, the ring of Muay Thai was not of the same size when it originally started. The flooring of the ring is wooden and the sides are aligned according to the points of a compass. Two sides are white, NW is red and SE in blue in color. The defending champion is usually assigned the red sided corner. It is considered that this corner gives advantage to the person.

Muay Thai is now a very popular sport, not just an art in the battlefield. Even the Olympics committee is now considering including it as its prime sport. Muay Thai is now not just confined to Thailand but has spread all over the world.
